Life on th Edge, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away
Fatigue and Strain
Effects of Fatigue and Strain
·Fatigue will simply be equal to Wounds. Strain will be as defined in the book
Fatigue, like Wounds, is dependent upon Brawn. Strain is dependent upon Willpower.
·Fatigue points have effects based on Brawn (B)
oFatigue from 0-B → No effect
oFatigue from B+1 to 2xB → 1 Disadvantage to physical ability checks
oFatigue from 2xB+1 to 3xB → 2 Disadvantages.
oetc for 3x, until you exceed your fatigue level and become unconscious.
·Similar for Strain for Mental ability checks using Willpower as the factor determining effect.
·When dice effects call for Strain, it will now be either Strain or Fatigue depending on the type of action that is occurring.
I’ll leave Wounds to have no direct effect, because that effect is simulated through critical wounds, but every wound (no matter what amount) will add 1 to fatigue.
As in the book, the GM can issue strain and fatigue because of things that are occurring during the game. Try to stay up all night, take fatigue. Run , take fatigue. Study for hours, take strain.
·As in the book, at the end of an encounter using a Discipline or Cool check, but now you choose which you are going to try to recover.
·But in addition, when there are short periods of rest or meditation, the GM will declare an automatic recovery of 2 strain and 2 fatigue.
·A full nights sleep in good conditions does restore both to zero, but if sleep is short or disturbed by dreams or in uncomfortable positions the GM may declare only half of fatigue and strain are recovered.
